Events following the death of HM Queen Elizabeth II

The Church Service will take place on Sunday 18th September at 6pm 

The National Minute Silence will now take place on Sunday 18th September at 8pm but will NOT take place at the War Memorial

 

Book of Condolence | 3pm, Friday 9th September

A Book of Condolence will be opened from 3pm on Friday at the Redesdale Hall. It will be available to be signed by Residents between 8.30am and 7pm until the day after Her Majesty’s funeral.­­­­­­

Official Proclamation Day | Saturday 10th September

The Proclamation Day will take place in London on Saturday at a meeting of the Accession Council. This is the day when the new Sovereign, King Charles III, will be proclaimed.

Floral Tributes Floral tributes (no plastics or cellophane please) are welcome at the Moreton War Memorial until the day of the funeral, after which they will be removed. 

Local Authority Proclamation Day | 4pm, Sunday 11th September

On Sunday the announcement of the new Sovereign will be read in Moreton-in-Marsh at the War Memorial on the High Street as part of the transfer of power to the new Monarch. Residents and visitors are invited to attend the Proclamation, which will take place at 4pm. This follows the Proclamation in London on Saturday and earlier readings of the Proclamation in Edinburgh, Cardiff and Belfast on Sunday.

Church service | On the eve of the funeral

On the eve of Her Majesty’s funeral a church service will be held at St David’s Church – all are welcome.

National Minutes Silence | On the day of the funeral

Residents are invited to participate in two minutes of silence, which will be observed at 11am at the War Memorial.

 

Please note: Postponement of meetings

Meetings for the Planning Committee and the Finance Committee, scheduled to take place on the 12th and 13th of September, have been postponed out of respect during this time.
